Frames and Intruders
(this was originally posted on Alexia’s MySpace page back in 2007 but since it looks like MySpace will be closing it’s doors soon I’m rescuing the posts I can find and putting them here)
This whole thing has been an interesting adventure so far. With one noticeable exception I’ve had to do everything myself. Sometimes it’s disheartening, but I keep telling myself it’s good for me.. you know, whatever doesn’t kill you will make you stronger.. aaaargh!
In the last month I’ve learnt to build basic structures, to modify scripts, am beginning to understand textures and am generally becoming the geek I never wanted to be. *puts hand to forehead and sighs heavily*
Over the last 24 hrs I’ve learnt how to make picture frames and create a texture with transparency.. oh, and had an intruder into my workspace.
Am seriously in love with myself over my talent. Am so proud of what I’ve done.. This may have more to do with the fact I won’t go out and see other artist’s work as then I’ll feel inadequate, so I’m comparing how useless I was a month ago to now.. I don’t care, I (figuratively) dance around my study each time I crack another mystery of creation.
Originally I started with an exhibition space lent to me by a friend. Now the art has reached the stage of being able to be exhibited, I realise the space is all wrong (ooohh, I’m becoming such a artiste!).
I’ve decided i need at least 4 times the size i have, yet I refuse to rent that kind of space as I don’t actually want to spend any more cash on this until I have to. There’s something about SL that makes me resistant to spending money.. I think it’s more to do with the experiences I’ve had interacting with people rather than the platform itself.. but there you go.
Anyway, the exhibition space issue is the last on my to do list.. until I have everything else sorted I’m not even going to bother thinking about it.
So I’m at the final bit of the preparation.. I’m tidying everything up ready for it to go out for public inspection and then there’s only selecting, pricing, sorting out vending machines and the gallery set up to go.. *only* she says…
I had an intruder today.. Couldn’t believe it. I’m in my skybox workspace in the middle of nowhere in an almost completely deserted sim and this woman in a ball gown comes flying up and despite me telling her not to come in, she comes in.. has a look around despite me telling her to leave and when I ask her if she breaks into homes in rl she tells me she doesn’t, which is why she does it in sl.
Ahhh, school holidays are upon us and the infantile are out in droves.
So, now the skybox has a 96m security system on a 2 second timer.. 🙂
and I still have the problem of the rest of my to do list..
