Driving in other countries

If you are planning on driving in other countries when you are travelling you should get an International Driver’s Permit.  They’re cheap and it means that you shouldn’t have any problems with hiring a car or leave yourself open to requests for bribes or other trouble in some parts of the developing world.  As some Brits found out, Florida won’t hire you a car these days without one, so make sure you have it.

The permits last for a year and you need to carry your home licence with you.  So, put it on your list of things to do as you prepare for your summer holidays.

Check the government information page if you want more information on how to obtain one in the UK.
