Internet News Channels Part 2 – BBC World

BBC world is subscription only, so unless your hotel has it, you won’t be able to have access to it.  I’ve always been unhappy that even with a TV licence I couldn’t access it here in the UK.

The BBC is the BBC and while it may appear more impartial than other stations, it does toe the government line.  Considering its resources, it always amazes me how much repetition there is on its news channels.

There is a news app and you can download an iPlayer app but you probably won’t be able to access anything through iPlayer unless you’re in the UK.  I don’t use the news app, I prefer to go to the news homepage through my phone browser as it shows the current articles in a more easily digestible form.

BBC World is very glossy and can be quite soothing after a hard day slogging on the tourist trail.  Their static news service does give probably the most varied selection of news out there, so it’s always worth having it on the list.  The BBC world service is definitely worth a listen to, it’s far more varied and interesting and is great to dip into.
