Internet News Channels Part 4 – China’s CCTV

Here’s part 4 of my news stations you can watch while travelling series. This time it’s the Chinese broadcaster CCTV.

China’s CCTV has changed from an international broadcaster of their domestic rolling news station to creating a US focussed international station.  It primarily reports on Asia but does occasionally report on areas of Chinese economic interest around the world, from Africa to South America.

It’s much more slick than RT and does report on some domestic issues, both good and bad, but always remember that any Chinese news is being broadcast because it is what the Chinese government wants the world to see.  I actually prefer the domestic channel as it’s much more interesting (if still toeing the government line) but sadly now it looks like you have to be in China now to watch it.  The news page has a lot of Chinese news that isn’t broadcast and is always worth dipping into if you’ve an interest in China.

There’s no app for this so you have to go to the web page to watch it.  It does have RSS feeds if you use them.
