 1. 11 July – national conference in Birmingham ­
Justice for the Palestinians ­ the moral issue of our time
A one-off opportunity to discuss with internationally-renowned speakers ­ including Dr Rita Giacaman, who has pioneered work on Palestinian health and resistance to occupation. She is from the Institute of Community and Public Health at Birzeit University, and played a central role in the Lancet’s recent study.
The conference will be discussing 1948 and after ­ the refugee question with Karma Nabulsi and Haim Bresheeth; looking at the reality of Israeli occupation with Prof Manuel Hassassian, Samia Botmeh and Rita Giacaman; and lessons from the Anti-Apartheid Movement with Victoria Brittain.
The final session will focus on taking action ­ with Daniel Machover talking on war crimes, and building boycott, divestment and sanctions with Betty Hunter, Hugh Lanning and Salma Yaqoob.
