The Joy of Building
(this was originally posted on Alexia’s MySpace page back in 2007 but since it looks like MySpace will be closing it’s doors soon I’m rescuing the posts I can find and putting them here)
Today i went in search of new textures.. found some interesting ones and then decided to go and build the skybox again.. thought that it would be a change.
SL decided to intermittently act up; couldn’t link objects, couldn’t modify my own created stuff and generally things just fell apart. Looked like the latest fix didn’t 🙂
But i did get the skeleton of the thing done.. Except now I’ve decided to change it again.. I really should just stick to my list in the order it needs to be done..
The funniest thing today was a fund raising group called Charitable Hearts put out a call for pieces to sell, with all proceeds going to them for disbursement to the the charities they support. They are the largest charity fund raiser in SL, so I gave them my favourite piece.. Things went swimmingly and the contact was most impressed. Until she rezzed it in the gallery and decided it was way too big (as I discovered, one of the reasons I’m rebuilding *grin*). In fact I think the piece single handedly convinced her that they should probably give sculpture a miss and stick to pictures. lol
It will be interesting to see whether they decide to use it for something or not. I think it’s a great piece, but it really is too big.. yet it looks funny when I make it smaller.. *Sigh* But if you have a very large house or courtyard, you might like to make them an offer take the original off their hands..
Go and check them out anyway and if you have a piece to donate to them, even better 🙂
So I’m only a little further down the to do list track.. at this rate it should be sometime next millennium before I’m up and running…
